Born on 15th October,
1943. Graduated and obtained his L.L. B. Degree from Punjab University. Started
practice in March, 1969 at Sub Divisional Courts at Kandaghat, shifted to District Courts at Shimla. After five
years, shifted to High Court of Himachal Pradesh in Constitutional, Civil,
Criminal and Mercantile Law. Represented Corporations, Banks and Insurance
Companies besides other Public Sector Undertakings. Was a Member of Bar
Council of Himachal Pradesh since 1978 till his elevation as additional judge of
High Court and was also member of
its Enrolment, Disciplinary, Executive, Advocates Welfare and Legal Aid
Committees. Was elected Chairman, Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh on 26th
March, 1995 and continued till elevation to Himachal Pradesh High
Court. Was also co-opted Member of Disciplinary Committee of the Bar Council
of India. Appointed as
an Additional Judge of High Court of Himachal Pradesh at Shimla on
November 30, 1995. Transferred to Jammu & Kashmir High Court on
11.12.1997. Appointed as Permanent Judge there on 27.01.1999. Retransferred
to H.P. High Court in June, 2001. Was the Chairman of H.P. High Court
Legal Services Committee, constituted under, Legal Services Authority Act
1987 till demitting the office. Remained posted as Judge of
H.P. High Court upto 4th October, 2005. Joined as President, H.P. State Consumer Disputes
Redressal Commission, Shimla on 5th October, 2005 and continuing upto 4th
October, 2011.
